Athletic Trainer

Jeff Speckman is an athletic trainer who is certified by the BOC of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and licensed by the state of Utah.  He specializes in rehabilitation of orthopedic and sport related injuries.  He graduated from Adams State University in 1992 and has been the head athletic trainer for Intermountain Sports Medicine McKay-Dee Hospital and Ben Lomond High School since 1993.

Jeff has been involved with many outreach athletic events in his years at Intermountain Sports Medicine McKay-Dee Hospital.  In addition to providing coverage to the athletes at Snowbasin during the 2002 Winter Olympics, Jeff has served as an athletic trainer for the Ogden Marathon, The Nissan Extera Triathlon, Winter Extera, 2008 World Cup Short Track Speed Skating competition, 2008 US National and 2010 Nor-Am Aerial competitions, World Junior Archery Competition 2009, World Cup Archery Competition 2010 and 2011, Ogden Mustangs Junior A hockey team, Hurt in the Dirt Dual-athlon in Ogden 2010 and 2011, Little League Baseball tournaments in Ogden 2010 and 2011 as well as numerous high school state tournaments.

As Head Athletic Trainer at Ben Lomond High School, Jeff has been instrumental in developing concussion protocol with the team physician to implement in all schools in the Ogden City School District.  All athletes in the school district are now being baseline tested using IMPACT.  He has helped educate other youth sports organizations on the importance of proper treatment of concussions. He has presented on the latest and current concussion research to other athletic trainers and physical therapists.

Jeff is a clinical instructor for the Weber State University Athletic Training Program.  Residents from Porter Family Medicine work closely with Jeff during their sports medicine rotations at Ben Lomond High School.  Jeff was also named Utah Clinical Athletic Trainer of the Year for 2011.

Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife, Yvonne, and children, Kyle and Julia. He spends his free time working in the yard, working out and golfing.
